Higher Ground at Hollinger

Higher Ground and The Well Worship Center has partnered up with Hollinger K-8 School to bring their middle school students inter-mural for basketball during lunch time as well as math tutoring. We are very excited about working with Hollinger!

Higher Ground Bringing the Community Together

This past Saturday the 11th, Higher Ground held A martial arts memorial seminar in honor of Cindy Burnett, a victim of violence in Tucson. Coaches and students from different gyms came together to support their family. KGUN9 did a news report, to see the video and learn more, please click here.


Mr. Jansen Receives Community Leadership Award

Presented by Chairman Ramon Valadez of the Pima County Board of Supervisors. It was a great honor to receive this distinguished award. 

2nd Annual Higher Ground Grappling Open

Our tournament this past Saturday was a huge success. We had 100 competitors for the event with participants in all ages and levels.  We are very proud of everyone who competed! Ward V Community Service Award

Mr. Jansen was presented with the Ward V Community Service Award by Council Member Richard Fimbres. This is in honor of the work Higher Ground at Wakefield has done in the 5 months we have been working in the community. We are very honored to receive this award and will continue our service. 

Our Christmas Party

On December 21st, Gospel Rescue Mission, The Well Worship Center, & Higher Ground held their annual Christmas Party at Higher Ground at Wakefield. Together,  7590 toys, 1500 shoes, 4500 hot dogs, 230 salvation, and 5000 popcorn were given away. What an amazing day!

KGUN 9 came out and did a special report on Higher Ground. As many of you know, we are saving a 70 year old historic landmark and bringing a great need to the community. Higher Ground opens at Wakefield! 

We have had a great first week with all our new students! Thank you all for coming out and being a part of Higher Ground. We are looking forward to our 2nd week!  Interested in enrolling your child, please visit our Parent Corner!

Higher Ground's First Banquet

Our first banquet, called "Going Higher" was held on August 23rd. We had a great turnout and are so excited to have this many supporters in our transition to Wakefield. Thank you all so much! If you missed the banquet, we still have the Night of Legacy coming up on September 27th. Please join us in continuing the legacy of Wakefield.

Mr. Jansen receiving LULAC Award

This Friday, Mr. Jansen will be receiving the League of United Latin American Citizens/FBI Community Service Award. This award is given annually to outstanding citizens in the state of Arizona. He is honored to receive this award! Pictures will follow the event!
